Egg marbling for kids with video

Kids DIY: Easter Egg marbling and decorting (video)

Easter is around the corner, and since I was a kid we decorated boiled eggs and the easter bunny hid them in the garden. My dad then proceeded to eat the eggs that none of us would touch cause the dye had seeped through. This version of egg marbeling is a bit fancier with the droppers and spray bottles, but more fun for kids and super easy. Have a watch to find out how to make them at home:

  • Gloves
  • White Vinegar
  • Spray Bottle
  • Paper Towel
  • Tray or plate with a lip
  • Droppers
  • Food Colouring
  • Eggs (hollowed or hard boiled)

  1. Spray vinegar on the paper towel
  2. Using the dropper, drop different colours of food dye onto the paper. Drain any excess.
  3. Place the hard boiled egg onto the paper and wrap it up
  4. Wait for it to dry and unwrap
  5. Voila! Marbled eggs

A few tips from our Creative Learning Program:

– talk about different colours your using with youngers kids
– use tape, wax or glue first to make designs, then marble and see your design repel the colours
– perfect for talking about Easter or the cultural significance of eggs at Easter for your family
