Kids DIY – How to make a Magical Dragon

We were sooooo fortunate to have had the wonderful artist and teacher Dawn Tan teach at Habitots for over a year. She led school-aged kids through the most gorgeous classes and helped us capture one of her original activities in one of our Habitots How-tos, makign the best Magical Dragons (perfect activity for Chinese New Year!).

2 large sheets of card
Coloured paper
Watercoloured paint
Craft glue
2 popsicle sticks
Split pins
Decorations (including googly eyes)

Step 1: Draw the Dragon shape that Dawn draws in the video or print the FREE template of the dragon below (right click to save image).

You can put one piece of the dragon on each page or test the size before sticking them on the card. You’ll need 4 pieces of the body (2 provided in the template).

Step 2: Cut out the shapes
Step 3: Make holes and insert split-pins
Step 4: Stick on the popsicle sticks with your craft glue

Step 5: Get Creative! Experiment with crayons, markers, glitter and coloured paper.
